Rotulus Website Terms of Use

Version 1.0 — effective 2026-10-12

These Terms of Use cover your use of the website at https://rotulus.io, including its forms. Please read them before you use the website. If you don't agree with them, please don't use it.

Who runs this website

The website is run by Mathusek Technologies LLC, a Utah limited liability company, which makes Rotulus, the desktop teleprompter app for Windows and macOS (the "Software"), and will sell licenses for it from the first sale. In these Terms, "Licensor", "we" and "us" mean Mathusek Technologies LLC and any successor to whom these Terms are transferred under "General" below.

How these Terms fit with our other documents

These Terms cover only the website. Other documents cover the rest:

DocumentWhat it covers
End User License AgreementInstalling and using the Software, including License Keys
Terms of SaleBuying from us: prices, payment, renewals, delivery of License Keys and the 14-day refund policy
Beta Test AgreementTaking part in the closed beta, including how a tester earns a free Tester License
Privacy PolicyWhat the Software, this website, its forms and our sales records collect, and your choices

If one of those documents and these Terms disagree about that document's subject, that document applies.

Using the website

You may browse the website, print pages for your own use and share links to it. Please don't:

  • use bots, scripts or other automated tools to send forms or to send repeated or bulk requests, or try to get around the limits on how often a form can be sent;
  • try to break into, overload, scan or disrupt the website, its forms or the systems behind them, except for good-faith security research that follows our security page;
  • upload malware, or any file you don't have the right to send;
  • copy the website, or show it inside another website, in a way that presents it as yours or suggests that we endorse you;
  • use the website or its forms to advertise, to harass anyone, to pretend to be someone else, or for anything unlawful.

We may ignore or block requests that break these Terms.

What you send us

You can reach us through our forms (support, beta applications and the demo survey) and by email, for example to ask for a Trial Key. When you do:

  • give true information about yourself, or about an organization you are allowed to speak for;
  • don't send confidential client material, such as scripts, names, logos or show details, unless you have permission to share it. A short description of the problem usually helps us just as much;
  • to apply for the beta or to request a Trial Key, you must be 18 or older and live in the United States; we rely on what you tell us about your age and where you live.

The Privacy Policy explains what happens to what you send. If you are a beta tester, the Beta Test Agreement covers the feedback you send us. Anyone else who sends us ideas or suggestions keeps ownership of them and gives us a non-exclusive, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, copy, change and build on them for any purpose, without payment or credit. We never publish your name or your words on our website or our own accounts without your written permission, except as the law requires.

Support

Support is by email, through the support page or at support@rotulus.io. We aim to reply to every request within 24 hours, weekends included. That is a goal, not a guarantee. Requests about a show that is running now, or that starts within 24 hours, are read first, but no faster reply is promised. A reply is not always a fix, and we don't operate, attend or monitor events. What applies to the Software at a live event is in the End User License Agreement.

Our content and trademarks

The website's text, images and design are © 2026 Mathusek Technologies LLC, except open-source parts such as the website's fonts, which are used under their own licenses. Rotulus and the Rotulus logo are trademarks of Mathusek Technologies LLC. Other names on the website, such as Windows, macOS, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Stripe and Zoho, belong to their owners; mentioning them doesn't mean they endorse Rotulus.

You may quote the website and share screenshots of it, for example in a review, a post or a talk, as long as you don't suggest that we made, sponsor or approve what you publish. Don't use the Rotulus name or logo as the name or logo of your own product or service. Nothing in these Terms limits what you may say about Rotulus, including honest reviews, good or bad.

Testimonials and reposts

When the website, or one of our own social media accounts, shows what someone says about Rotulus, as a quote or as a repost of their own public post:

  • we show it only with the person's written permission; for a repost, we ask before each one, and a one-line email saying yes is enough;
  • a quote is in the person's own words and is never changed in a way that alters its meaning;
  • if the person got something from us, such as a free or discounted license, or has a business or family connection to us, a note next to it says so;
  • beta testers who complete the beta receive a free Tester License, so a tester's quote carries one of these notes next to it: "Rotulus beta tester; testers receive a free license" or, once the license is issued, "Rotulus beta tester; received a free Tester License", and a tester's repost keeps its disclosure next to it;
  • a set of chosen quotes is labeled as a selection;
  • a Testimonial Release lasts 2 years, unless the person confirms it again by email; if they don't, we stop using the testimonial as if they had withdrawn it;
  • the person can withdraw their permission for future use at any time by emailing support@rotulus.io; we then stop using it in anything new and remove it from the website and from our own accounts within 14 days.

A tester earns the Tester License by testing, never by writing a review or a testimonial, and a tester never has to give one.

Links to other websites

  • Booking a demo. The demo page links to a booking page that Zoho runs for us (Zoho Bookings). What you enter there goes to Zoho and to the Google Calendar that we connect to it, and our Privacy Policy covers what we do with it. The demo itself is a video call on Zoom. Zoho's and Zoom's own terms apply to their services.
  • Buying. From the first sale, when you buy, the pricing page sends you to a checkout page run by Stripe. You enter your card details on Stripe's page, not on this website. Stripe handles the payment for us and also uses payment information for its own purposes, such as preventing fraud, under its own terms and privacy policy. The Terms of Sale cover your purchase.
  • Other links. We don't control other websites and aren't responsible for their content or for how they handle your information.

Where Rotulus is offered

For now, from the first sale we will sell License Keys only to customers in the United States, with prices in US dollars. In these Terms, "the United States" means the 50 states, the District of Columbia, US territories and APO/FPO addresses. The download page and the installers are intended for visitors in the United States; the rest of the website, and the file that Rotulus's online check downloads, can be reached from any country. If you are a customer, a Trial Key holder or a beta tester and can't reach the download page, for example while you are abroad, write to support@rotulus.io. Beta builds go only to accepted beta testers. Don't download, use or export the Software where US export control or sanctions laws forbid it; the End User License Agreement has the full terms.

Accessibility and security

We want the website to work for everyone. Our accessibility statement says what we aim for, what we have checked, what we know still needs work and how to tell us about a barrier. You can also write to support@rotulus.io.

If you find a security problem in the website, its forms or the Software, please report it privately to support@rotulus.io first, as our security page describes.

Copyright complaints

Visitors can't post material on this website. If you believe something on it infringes your copyright, email support@rotulus.io with a description of the work, where it appears on the website, and how to reach you. We will look into it and remove or change material where that is appropriate.

No warranty for the website

The website and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, Licensor makes no warranties about the website, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and does not promise that the website will always be available or free of errors or harmful code.

We work to keep the website accurate, but it can fall behind the current version of the Software. The warranty terms for the Software are in the End User License Agreement.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Licensor is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of profits, revenue or data, arising from your use of the website or its forms, and Licensor's total liability for all claims about the website is limited to US $50.

This section does not limit any liability that the law does not allow to be limited. It does not cover the Software or purchases: the End User License Agreement and the Terms of Sale set their own limits.

Law and courts

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The exclusive venue for any dispute about the website or these Terms is the state and federal courts located in the State of Utah, and you and Licensor consent to that jurisdiction. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in a small-claims court that has jurisdiction over it, including one in the county where you live. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under the consumer protection laws of the place where you live that cannot be waived or limited by contract.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Each version shows its number and the date it takes effect at the top, and the change log below says what changed. A new version applies only to use of the website from that date, never to anything that happened before it. If a change is material, we post the new version here before it takes effect and also tell people who hold a License Key, and beta testers, by email.

General

If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce part of these Terms, we haven't given it up. Licensor may transfer these Terms and the website, without your consent, to a company Licensor controls or to anyone who takes over Rotulus. We will post a notice of any transfer at rotulus.io and also tell people who hold a License Key, and beta testers, by email. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. These Terms are the whole agreement between you and Licensor about the website.
